When Your Heart is Broken

by Esther Griggs

Nehemiah’s broken heart took him to the throne room of God.

He knew to Whom he was speaking. He had a relationship with God. He addressed Him as the Lord God of Heaven, the great and awesome God who keeps His promises of unfailing love to those who love Him and obey Him.

His first intent in his prayer was to clear the air. He wanted nothing between himself and God that would harm communication. He confessed sin, not only of his nation but his own also.

He reminded God of His promises especially as it related to the current situation; the promise to return exiles from the ends of the earth.

As he spent time there, with God, a plan developed, and he brought the need before the awesome, loving God of heaven. He needed a powerful, earthly alliance and, he needed to be released to work the plan.

God heard and answered.

God is near to the broken heart. He never despises a broken and contrite heart. It provides an opportunity to show His awesomeness!
